Heresy
Jennet is accused of being a witch and Thomas claims to be the devil. A witch hunt is called upon by the people to find Jennet. They are both arrested for these claims which cause an uproar in the township. While in jail, Jennet tells Thomas that she’s being labeled a witch because people believe he turned a man into a dog. She is almost burned at the stake before the man claimed to be turned into a dog returns safely. Thomas maintains that he is the devil. His reason might be because he wanted to be punished for allegedly killing two people and the Mayor wouldn’t take him seriously. It was a sure way of getting people’s attention.
