Students will apply lessons from their reading in their own writing.

Structure:

In this activity, each student will work to create a short fantasy story of their own. Stories needn't be complete, or even be particularly Tolkienian in nature. However, they should ideally draw from and incorporate the lessons about fantasy fiction which students have learned from the class and their readings of Tolkien.

Each story should also minimally contain each of the following elements:

1. A character arc for the main protagonist

2. A point or object of conflict...
