Character Analysis and Interviews

Objective:
Students will use textual evidence to create a character analysis
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RL.11-12.1, CCSS.ELA-Literacy.SL.11-12.6
Structure:
Have the students identify all the main characters and make a list on the board. Break the class into small groups and assign each group one of the characters to analyze (Kitty, Walter, Charles, Waddington, the Mother Superior, Mrs. Garstin (Mr. Garstin, Dorothy Townsend, Colonial Yü, and others as needed). Instruct the groups that they must keep their assigned character secret from the rest of the class.
