Students will be able to discuss the use of the n-word in the play

Structure:

The n-word is one of the most inflammatory in the English language and appears many times in The Piano Lesson. Tell the class that today they will be discussing the use of the n-word both in the play and in everyday life. Remind the class that although the word is used in the play, students should refrain from using it when quoting the text or otherwise. They will soon discuss why this is so important.
