    King March is jealous of Baudouin’s popularity with the people. He feels that the people prefer Baudouin and will rise up against him. He kills Baudouin out of jealousy.

    Anna keeps Baudouin’s shirt to fuel her revenge against King March. She wants her son to know what happened to his father and the visual will help him better understand the horror of then night his father died. It makes Alexander angry and willing to seek revenge against his uncle.

    How is Alice different from other girls? Why is she given such liberties?

    Alice has more freedoms than most girls. Her father treats her as an equal and allows her to travel with him on his pilgrimages. Pilgrimages are rough journeys that are not known for comfort and can be dangerous. Her father treats her with such esteem because she is the most important thing in his life. He raises her to be an intelligent woman who makes her own decisions and is not helpless.

    What is the significance of the Holy Grail? What does it symbolize to Alice?

    The Holy Grail is a symbol of power. Morgan wants it to gain power over King Arthur’s kingdom. She will do anything to possess it. Alice sees the Grail as a symbol of faith. It does not matter if the Grail is real as long as people believe it is real. Their belief is the power.
