What are different examples of courage seen throughout the novel and what can we take away from these examples?

The River Between demonstrates courage in a variety of ways. Muthoni stands up to her family over her convictions while Nyambura stands up to her family for love. Waiyaki shows his courage as he fights for education and seeks unity between the villages. One could even argue that Kabonyi shows courage in returning to the village and going against his old beliefs and Joshua.
