The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight Background

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight Background

Acclaimed author Jennifer E. Smith has written countless novels throughout her nearly two-decade career, many of which have been adapted into film and television. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, her third novel, was published in 2011. Vanessa Caswill will direct the film version of the novel, which is set to release on Netflix sometime in 2022 or 2023 (though no specific release date has been announced at the time of writing).

The novel follows Hadley Sullivan on what should be one of the worst days in her life. She is stuck at an airport after missing her flight to London, where her beloved father is getting married to a woman who Hadley has never met. Her day seemingly has no positive things going for it until she sees a British man named Oliver in the airport. The two sit next to each other on the plane, but eventually lose each other in the crowds of the airport. There is, as the title suggests, love at first sight for each of them, but a bigger question remains: will they ever see each other again?
