Dor becomes the first person to discover a clock that measures time, though at first, he does not understand the importance of time. Later on, Dor realizes that time is an essential resource that should never be wasted. The best way to value time is by appreciating it. Dor appreciates the time, and he helps other characters like Sara and the Wealthy Man, who appreciated the time and improved their life.

    The primary theme throughout the book is the value of time. Most people take time for granted, and they come to realize late that they have wasted their lives when they cannot do anything. At first, Dor does not value time, but later, he realizes that he had been wrong. Sara gets back on track because she realizes that she has to do the best when she still has time. The argues that people should stop complaining about the wrong side of life but ensure that every minute in their life counts. Looking at the wrong side of life makes one lose focus and desire to continue live. However, when characters such as Sarah and Victor learns the significance of time in their lives, they start living positively.
