Jack Wilton

Jack Wilton, the main character, is a page in the army of the English monarch, Henry VIII. As he awaits being crowned the status of a knight, he is assigned to Henry who becomes his companion. The narrator employs Jack’s point of view to bring out the order of events that happen in his time, the sixteenth century. The whole narrative is presented as a narration using Jack's point of view.

Henry Howard

Henry Howard is a first-generation descendant of the Howard family and also the earl of Surrey. His family are the holders of the Dukedom of Norfolk, the oldest titles in the English monarchy. He serves the role being the voice of reason behind Jack’s adventures as he adds legitimacy to the adventures.

Geraldine

Geraldine is a supporting character and is also Henry Howard’s love curiosity. In the novel, she is presented as having caught the attention of the Earl of Surrey.

Diamante

Diamante is a noblewoman of Italian origin who is also reported to have fallen from grace in the novel. She is also Jack Wilton’s girlfriend and accompanies him on his adventures. Esdras is a Spanish noblewoman who both Jack and Diamante get into trouble with while on their adventures. She is at the time with her servant known as Bartol. The scrape that the two parties indulge in results to the death of Heraclide

Bartol

Bartol is a servant. He is introduced into the picture when his employee Esdras becomes involved in a scrape with Jack and Diamante on one of their adventures, a scrape that results in the rape and suicide of one Heraclide.

Zadok

Zadok is a merchant of Jewish origin who gets into trouble with Jack Wilton and his girlfriend Diamante on one of their adventurous escapades

Zachary

Zachary is the Pope’s doctor who also gets into trouble with the adventurous couple [Jack and Diamante] with Zadok.

Juliana

Juliana is the pope’s mistress that saves both Jack and his girlfriend from the claws of death. Through this particular action, Juliana can be regarded as a humane individual in the novel.
