Because of its subject matter, students will probably find cause to compare John Polidori's The Vampyre to other vampire stories they may have read in the classroom, such as Bram Stoker's Dracula, or vampire stories that they've read outside of it, such as Stephanie Meyer's Twilight. Advanced students may also be able to draw upon their knowledge of some of the English writers whom Polidori met and associated with over the course of his life, including Mary Shelley, Percy Bysshe Shelley, and Lord Byron.
