The ungrateful son
After suffering a hokey accident, Will no longer went to college and stayed at home instead. During that time, he spent his days taking care of his mother who was sick and suffering from tuberculosis. While it was clear that for the family it was a great help, not everyone saw it at being such and in fact he was criticized for being a cook and a chambermaid. Ironically, the person who criticized him was his own brother, Lorin, who was away trying to make a fortune in another state.
Not interested in theology
The patriarch in the Wright family was a bishop and he considered the religious education as being extremely important. Milton also encouraged his boys to think for themselves and after extensive reading, the boys decided to stop going to church. Ironically, the father did not protest them but rather accepted their decision and supported their intellectual quests.
Harsh journey
Upon arriving at Kitty Hawk, Wilbur remained with a local named William Tate and his wife Addie. As soon as Wilbur arrived to their house, he made sure to tell them about everything he went through, about the hardships he endured during his 48 hour voyage. Ironically, while the Tate family said nothing, the life they had was immensely harder than what Wilbur experienced. Living on a remote place meant they had to make do with what they could produce themselves and thus for them, the problems Wilbur described were nothing in comparison with what they had to deal with on a daily basis.
Too hot or too cold
The first time the Wright brothers went to Kitty Hawk, they had to deal with harsh weather and with extreme cold. The brothers recorded how the weather was so cold they had to use multiple blankets to be able to sleep. The second time they return to Kitty Hawk, the situation was, ironically, quite the opposite. While the previous year the brothers had enough wind and had to deal with the cold, in 1901 they had to deal with unbearable heat and with swarms of mosquitoes that would not let them sleep at night of even work during the day.
Worse than before
After their first attempts at creating a glider and making it fly at Kitty Hawk, the brother came up with another design in 1901 they were sure will perform better than the previous one, ironically, during the first tests, the brothers noted that the new glider was even worse than before. While everyone praised them for their design, the brothers knew they had to make improvements and to suppress the results they had until then.
