"Once they see you stand your ground they respect you."
El Jaibo says this to all of his street gang when he returns from escaping a juvenile jail. This is his presenting how tough he is to his friends in order to position himself as the leader of the gang, the one that is not to be trifled with as he is violent, and is able to break free from the adults who try to imprison them.
"I know the laws man."
Jaibo says this to the kids before they steal Don Carmelo's bag. He is telling them that if they are caught without what they've stolen they won't get in trouble. His saying this relates to the fact that he will say anything to these boys to get them to do what he wants regardless of the consequences for them.
"I hope they'll kill every one of them before they are born."
Don Carmelo says this at the end of the film after Jaibo has been shot by the police. He hates street kids and wishes that they would be exterminated and we hear this in his final statement.
