To gain perspective of the point of view of the story and of the story's main character.

Structure:

As students read, ask them to select engaging blocks of narration that describe the man's character, thoughts and behaviors and that describe the landscape and conditions. These should be sentences or passages that they like, preferably ones that seem vivid and descriptive.
