Absurd Conversations

Objective:
To get students to act out the difference between absurd and logical dialogue
Common Core Standards:
CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.3, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.11-12.1.B
Structure:
To introduce this activity, have two student volunteers act out the following exchange from Section 1, or a similarly absurd one:
VLADIMIR: When I think of it . . . all these years . . . but for me . . . where would you be . . . (Decisively.) You'd be nothing more than a little heap of bones at the present minute, no doubt about it.
ESTRAGON: And what of it?
VLADIMIR: (gloomily.) It's too much for one...
