    Objective:

    Students will write imitations of Whitman's poems to better understand his poetic choices and thematic concerns.

    Structure:

    This is the final day of a five-day activity.

    For their final pastiches, students should choose between "Pioneers! O Pioneers!" and "Crossing the Brooklyn Ferry." As with Day 4, invite students to focus on a smaller section of one of these poems, since they are long.
