Zahrah Tsami is a teenage girl who lives in Kirki, a small town in the Ooni kingdom. She is a dada. That means she is born with the ability to float in the air, and vines grow from her scalps. There is a rumor that dada children possess magical powers and, therefore, people of the Ooni kingdom dislike them. Some dada people shave their heads just to avoid discrimination from others, but Zahrah ignores the bad behavior of her classmates. Dari is her only friend who supports her. His outgoing, adventurous, and fearless personality inspires Zahrah to develop her self-esteem.
Zahrah discovers her ability to fly when she starts her menses. Dari and Zahrah go to the dark market, and they meet Nsibidi. She is also a dada and calls herself a windseeker. Dari encourages her to practice flying and suggests that the Forbidden Greeny Jungle will be an ideal place for her. In the meantime, while practicing, a war snake bites Dari. He goes into a deep sleep due to the venom, and only an unfertilized egg of Elgort can save him.
Zahra, to save her best friend, begins her expedition and meets different kinds of animals with magical powers. She avoids many dangerous situations but hurts herself by falling from the tree. Fortunately, Greeny Gorillas rescue her and take her to Misty, the oldest gorilla in the village. Misty heals Zahrah's hip sprain and takes care of her. She continues her journey after getting well, and soon, she obtains Elgort's unfertilized egg. Zahrah brings the egg to the Kirki village, and Dari awakes after injecting the serum into his body. After returning from the adventurous journey, Zahrah has become a confident woman and a skilled windseeker.
