A Promised Land Background

A Promised Land Background

A Promised Land is a memoir by the former 44th president of the United States, Barack Obama, and is due to be released on November 17, 2020 by Crown Publishing.

The personal account details the life of Obama through his younger years to his eventual election as President of the United States, and his endeavors since. The book discusses key points of Obama's presidential campaign, including becoming the first African American to hold the title. Obama also discusses his thoughts behind key decisions made in the financial crisis of 2008, the Deepwater Horizon oil spill (2010) and Operation Neptune’s Spear (2011), which saw the death of former Al-Qaeda leader, Osama bin Laden. The book also details the work Obama has done since, fighting racial injustice and providing basic access to health care for disadvantaged groups. The book also touches on the impact of his presidency on his family and the resulting adversity they faced during their time in the White House.

The book follows Obama's previous memoirs, Dreams from My Father (1995) and The Audacity of Hope (2006), both of which topped the New York Times bestselling books.
