A Promised Land by Barack Obama is a memoir recounting his life since the time he was looking for his identity to becoming the most powerful man on earth. The book gives a true account of former president’s campaign team and experiences during his tenure in White House. In the book, Obama talks about several episodes and members of his cabinet who shaped his success. The defining moments are also featured in the book. Obama has announced that he will narrate ups and downs that he has encountered as a person.

According to Obama, the book also covers his point of view regarding the mistakes he made. During his tenure as POTUS, Obama confronted social, cultural, economic, and political forces that threatened to disrepute his administration. After ascending to power in 2008, Obama had to handle great recession that almost crumpled the U.S economy. Other challenges featured in the book include conflict with Russia government, the ratification of the Affordable Care act, and taking out the world’s most lethal terrorist, Osama bin Laden.

The book will give readers an insight into how Obama’s marriage with Michelle has withstood the test of time. Just like any other couple, the Obamas have their highs and lows. The challenges they have endured together will be covered in the book. Ultimately, Obama provides his opinions on how the country can heal from racial and class divisions. All the citizens of the U.S are obliged to ensure that democracy works for them.
