Jim
We watch as Jim and his wife both choose to have a second cup of coffee. Later, Jim begins to vomit, saying that he shouldn't have had it. In both scenes the camera pushes in on her as she speaks to herself internally. It's comedic because Jim is telling his wife it was the second cup of coffee that made him vomit, but she doesn't correlate it that way, only that these are things he doesn't do at home: 1. have a second cup of coffee, 2. vomit.
No Reason to be Alarmed
We watch as the stewardesses drag the co-pilots through through the aisles, as they have passed out. The passengers stay calm, though. The imagery is a contrast of calm and the need for panic and the passengers' lack of awareness creates the comedy in this moment.
No Reason to Panic
We watch as Dr. Rumack tells everyone on the plane that there is no reason to panic. As he says this, his nose begins to grow longer. The imagery tells us that he is clearly lying and his nose is growing just like Pinocchio's did when he lied.
Cut 'em Down
We watch as multiple people from various religions attempt to give information to Captain Kramer on his walk through the airport. He begins to fight them off, literally until there are no more religions for him to strike away as threats. The imagery is comedic because Kramer reacts in the way many desire to do, but don't. Thus we partner with him because we recognize the feeling and have a secret desire (for some) fulfilled comedically on screen.
