    Students will think about the challenge facing the characters in Alas, Babylon.

    Structure:

    Much of the later parts of Alas, Babylon explore the nature of society and the struggles of building a new community. In the novel, Randy assigns roles to members of his community according to their abilities.

    In this assignment, students will create their own community out of their groups. To begin, break the class into groups of four or five students.
