Apollo Irony

Okenwa’s intellectual capacity

Okenwa is the son of professors who have greatly impacted the educational world positively. Ironically, Okenwa hates books, and he does not want to read. The reader expects Okenwa to have the genes of his bright parents, but that is not the case. Instead, Okenwa wants to be alone. The reader realizes that Okenwa has different interests in life, which contradicts the normal life cycle in which children look up to their parents as role models.

The irony of parenting

Okenwa's parents are paradoxical characters. Okenwa's parents are professors who rarely pay attention to their young son. For instance, the parents are often away doing their jobs. When these parents come home, instead of bonding with their son, they start competing, reading books, and doing research. Therefore, Okenwa's parents do the contrary when they neglect their parental responsibility of bonding with their son.

The irony of Raphael

Raphael was once the houseboy in Okenwa's house while he was growing up. Ironically, after several years, Raphael leads a gang that terrorizes residents, and he targets Okenwa's parents. According to Okenwa's mother, they loved Raphael as one of their sons and gave him everything he wanted. On the contrary, Raphael is now leading a gang to rob Okenwa's family because he knows everything inside the apartment.
