While waiting at the Dunkin’ near Bardeen Quad, I noticed students took out caffeinated coffees, whereas visitors bought sugary ones. It was interesting correlating those two. Until my cousin bought Ice Tea. Finding such correlations – and outliers – and explaining them is my desired future career. I hope to be a data analyst, which would be accomplished easier with BS/IS education.

In UIUC School of Information Sciences, I’ll experience how information can be a lens to society via courses like Social Aspects of Information Technology. I want to analyze how demographics, age, and socioeconomic backgrounds affect societal behaviors. For example, I could view the areas with the highest rate of COVID deaths, helping the government implement pertinent help to places and people in need. To do so, I need to learn how data can be implemented in the real-world at UIUC Information Sciences.
