Settling In Anonymous

Aggravating traffic, lack of communal traditions, and rarely going somewhere where everybody knows each other, for better or for worse, are all hallmarks of living in a big city. Growing up in a large suburb of Los Angeles, I have had my fair share of experiences with the City of Angels, but moving forward, I would prefer a change from a sometimes overwhelming city atmosphere to a more intimate small-town community.

Although there are much smaller cities in America than Chapel Hill, I believe Chapel Hill can provide me with the small-town hospitality that I missed out on in Long Beach. With a variety of Living-Learning Communities offered, I am confident that I will be able to create tight bonds with students as I live among those who share similar social and educational interests as myself. Being able to live with other students who are also passionate about business in the McColl Building would be a comforting opportunity and make a larger UNC campus feel intimate.

In addition, Kenan-Flagler’s Honors and Independent Studies will allow me to develop a close relationship with some of UNC’s faculty as I pursue research in business. These are some of the qualities I am looking for in the place that I call home. I certainly expect...
