Community and my footprints Anonymous

I can still remember my teacher announcing an external physics examination to be conducted at school. A self-proclaimed science enthusiast, I signed up for it, little expecting it to spawn a love for HAM Radio.

My form mates warned me of the redundancy of the exam. “You’ve got WhatsApp”, said one “what good is your radio?” However, I persisted over this negativity and immersed myself in HAM Radio, viewing it as a tool to advance my understanding of Physics. After acquiring my license, I started practicing this hobby and spreading awareness about it in my hometown, school and disaster prone areas such as the hilly regions of Almora. These areas have no connection to the mainland after disaster strikes and the mobile towers fall. Here, HAM Radio would come to the fore.

Often enough, people denigrated my efforts, but I persisted. My moment of triumph came when, at the launch of my book: “An Amateur’s Guide to HAM Radio” a respected HAM lauded my work: “India needs more people like you, passionately spreading awareness about HAM Radio.”

My community pushed me forward. Their skepticism fueled my passion, leaving a mark in the HAM community and inspiring many to follow theirs.
