“Never trust people who don't have something in their lives that they love beyond all reason.”
Kira Andersson says these words to her daughter Maya, when the last questions reasons of her father’s devotedness to hockey. Kira means that if a person does not love anything without common sense and a feel of its importance, such a person has a stone heart, and cannot be respectful to the other people and their interests. Kira, as a loving mother, does not want her daughter to fall in love with the one who has no devotedness.
“If you are honest, people may deceive you. Be honest anyway. If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfishness. Be kind anyway. All the good you do today will be forgotten by others tomorrow. Do good anyway.”
These were the words that a local nurse has written and pinned on the wall in front of a woman who had just delivered a baby. This woman was Fatima, and the baby was Amat. Fatima was a lonely soul in this entire world, and Amat was her the only consolation, but even though she loved him, she understood that it would be difficult to survive and to raise the boy. Though Fatima was a strong person, at the moment of her son’s birth she felt frustrated. The nurse who helped her in the hospital gave her the note with these words written and said it was a prayer. Amat was sure that these were magic words and they helped him to become a good player and win the game as well.
“You never have the sort of friends you have when you’re fifteen ever again. Even if you keep them for the rest of your life, it’s never the same as it was then.”
Maya’s friend Ana used to stay at the Anderssons’ house oftener than in her own, and it disturbed Maya’s parents time after time. Maya’s mother feels less disturbed as her father, and treats her daughter’s friend’s presence with respect and understanding. Kira says these words to her daughter, and wants her to value these moments of true friendship, because she knows that her daughter is going to grow up, and everything will change. Kira Andersson is a good parent and she cares for her children’s happiness.
