Biography and Fiction

Objective:

Students will be able to understand the influence of the author's life on her fiction

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.SL.8.1.A

Structure:

As homework the night before, the students should have researched Sewell's biography, including both secondary biographies and primary sources. They should collect at least five sources and write a paragraph describing each source. Have them bring these sources to class, either printed out or saved to a personal computer or tablet. The latter may be necessary if they have sound clips or videos as part of their research.
