Racism
Racism is a close kin of ignorance. It is okay when a person loves his or her nation, country, culture, and language. But, it doesn’t mean that it is okay to hate other cultures and their representatives. Unfortunately, it is not an easy task to conquer racism. It requires a lot of time and willingness of a person to accept new knowledge. We are lucky to live in the world where we have an access to the best sources of knowledge, an opportunity to communicate with other people, learn languages and travel. We have everything we need to stop racism, but, for some reason, people prefer not to do it.
Acceptance
To be a happy person, one has to accept himself or herself. Of course medicine gives us a chance to change almost everything in us, create a different person, but that doesn’t guarantee happiness and satisfaction. Max’s example proves that a person has to come to terms with oneself to be able to live a free and enjoyable life. As soon as he stops pretending and admits the truth, he feels better. Readers can use his example as a proof that honesty is the highest virtue.
Ignorance
Ignorance means danger. A person with profound of lack of knowledge can be easily led and tricked. We should not be afraid of knowledge, we, the representatives of the modern society, are supposed to be more flexible and acceptable. Max’s generation preferred ignorance to experience and the voice of reason. It was no wonder that it led to a catastrophe. Even the fact that they were of the same skin color didn’t prevent people from quarreling and hating each other.
