The comic book opens with T'Challa/The Black Panther knelt before his father. His father, T'Chaka, the previous king and Black Panther of Wakanda is chastising his son for defying his blood. He proclaims that he is no longer his son and has defied the country of Wakanda. Ultimately, he is cast out. We also see a woman telling T'Challa that he has lost his way as a ruler and that the country is divided.
The comic book shifts to The Great Mound. There, T'Challa (in his Black Panther garb) and his forces are attacking Wakanda's citizens, making them kneel before and pay attention to their king. However, the people have had enough and there is an uprising (spurred on by a woman in green). The dissenters call T'Challa an unfit king, soulless, a tyrant, and a divisive figure. They claim that he is destroying their nation while attempting to beat him up and take away his control of the throne -- and ultimately the country. T'Challa tries to get a hold of the person who instigates the uprising. He fails and one of his soldiers tells him to stop fighting his citizens and to retreat.
After that, T'Challa leaves the area to contend with other evil things that roam Wakanda -- with an eye towards the aforementioned woman in green. Meanwhile, the uprising is quelled as "the hate fades."
