Blood Promise by Richelle Mead is based on a story of Rose Hathaway who has gone to Russia to find her lover, Dmitri. Dimitri has been turned into Strigoi in the course of rescuing academy students and personnel abducted during a Strigoi attack. She tries to locate where dhampir town in Siberia is situated. Rosa frequents various joints where dhampirs and moroi hang out. However, she doesn’t get the answer to where the village is and decides to leave. When leaving she is confronted by an alchemist, Sydney. Sydney put Rose to a task on why she has left strigoi bodies scattered everywhere. Here a strigoi attacks them and Rose kills it. Later in the evening, Sydney explains to her that bodies are cleaned up to hide the secret from the human world. Rose explains to Sydney about the village she is looking for. Sydney calls her bosses and she is instructed to take Rose to Baia.
When they finally get into Baia, Rose discovers that she is in the home of Dimitri’s grandmother, mother, and sisters. Dimitri is mentioned by one of the sisters and Rose decides to tell them what transpired. The family gets shocked after the narration. However, the family decides to have a memorial service for Dimitri because they consider him dead. Rose is approached by Abe, a wealthy and influential moroi who informs her that he is speaking on behalf of someone else. One day, Viktoria who is Dimitri’s sister gets into trouble. Abe offers to rescue her if Rose promises to leave Baia. Nevertheless, rather than Rose getting back home, she accompanies a team of dhampir to Novosibirsk to continue her search for Dimitri. Together with that group, they interviewed many Strigoi to find out where Dimitri is. Luckily, Rose finds one dhampir who knows Dimitri.
Rose tells it to inform Dimitri that she is looking for him. A few days later, Dimitri confronts Rose but she declines to kill him when given a chance. A day later, Rose wakes up in an unfamiliar place where Dimitri orders her to become a strigoi or gets killed. She declines to make any decision and lets Dimitri bite her. Lissa gets back to the academy when Rose is still held captive by Dimitri. But her character has changed and has developed a strange behavior. Her friend Adrian wants Rose to come home and rescue Lissa. However, she finds out that Rose is also in a dangerous situation. Adrian’s plea and Lissa’s plight make Rose avoid being bitten by Dimitri so that she can sober up. She wanted to become sober to escape. As Rose escapes, Dimitri kills many Strigoi alongside his old mentor. Finally, Dimitri catches up with Rose where they engage in a fight. Rose stabs Dimitri in the chest and believes that he has killed him. Finally Rose is able to rescue Lissa from the danger. She gets back home and assures her mother that she would return to school. Nevertheless, she learns that Dimitri is still alive. The author tries to show how human life can be filled with dangers, obligations as well as emotional highs and lows but still remain determined.
