Bright Star Background

Bright Star Background

Bright Star” is a romantic movie based on the life of the famous poet John Keats and his lover Fanny Brawne. It was directed by the Academy Award-winning director Jane Campion and stars prolific names from the acting world.

Fanny is an outspoken individual with a passion for clothing. She gets introduced to John Keats, an aspiring poet, through mutual acquaintances. Her interest immediately grows, but Keats is reluctant to pursue her because of a lack of means. They form a bond through grief over his brother and Keats starts giving Fanny poetry lessons.

As their tumultuous relationship gets more complicated, Keats garners some fame, and he’s finally given Fanny’s hand. He promises to marry her after his return from Italy, where he meets his tragic end.

The title of the movie is based on Keats’s poem he dedicated to Fanny and which she mournfully recited at the end.
