Students will be able to translate textual evidence into an artistic representation.

Structure:

Ask students to imagine that they can see Bud's future and that he becomes an accomplished musician. With this knowledge, they should design a poster advertising one of his concerts. Include performance dates, city and venue, and some superlatives describing his musicianship. To help students understand what their posters may look like, have them look up jazz posters from the Great Depression for artists like Louis Armstrong or Count Basie on Google Image Search....
