Bunny Summary

Bunny Summary

Bunny by Mona Awad opens with Samantha and her friend, Ava, attending a party at Warren University. Samantha is a student at Warren University pursuing an MFA course, while Ava is a dropout from a nearby art college. Samantha scorns the Bunnies (four women art students from her class) because they always exclude her from their team. Ava also hates the Bunnies because they are evil.

Samantha receives an invitation letter from the Bunnies requesting her to attend their Smut Salon party. At first, Samantha is unsure whether to accept the invitation or turn it down. However, Samantha accepts the invitation despite knowing Ava will disapprove of her decision. When Samantha finally attends the Smut Salon party, the Bunnies drug her as part of their regular rituals of turning rabbits into hybrid men.

When Ava discovers that the Bunnies have drugged Samantha, she quickly rescues her. However, after a few days, the Bunnies invite her into their ritual, and she attends without hesitation. Kira, the head of the bizarre ritual, commands Samantha to turn a rabbit into a hybrid man called Max. Max is among the many hybrids out there dating and manipulating women. Later that day, Samantha returns home feeling lonely because Ava is mad at her for being part of the notorious Bunnies.

One day, Samantha decides to board a bus and search for Ava to apologize for her ignorance. When Samantha alights from the bus, she finds a man who leads her to Ava's house. Ava is happy to see Samantha and tells her she is currently dating a handsome man called Max. Samantha is shocked to discover that Max is the hybrid man she created during the bizarre ritual. Samantha gets mad at Max because he is manipulating the Bunnies instead of accomplishing his mission. When Samantha walks outside Ava's house, she again meets Max holding a dead swan. At this moment, Samantha discovers that Ava is an imaginary friend she created in her mind to fill her loneliness after her mother's death.
