    How does Rossetti establish the character of the two sisters?

    In their first interaction with the goblins, Lizzie and Laura both initially vocalize their fear and caution. But Laura cannot resist her curiosity and she looks at them. Lizzie shuts her eyes and puts her fingers in her ears, then runs away. Lizzie seems more fearful and obedient. Laura is curious and bold, but also honest; she tells the goblins she has no money and that to take fruit from them would be stealing. Initially, Laura seems like the braver of the two sisters, which of course is eventually subverted by Lizzie's great act of bravery.
