Communist Manifesto Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

The ideas in The Communist Manifesto are fully explored in Marx's masterwork, Capital (1867). Over the decades, many other thinkers have reexamined Marx's arguments in light of recent events and technologies. These include The Inoperative Community (1986) by Jean-Luc Nancy and The Communist Hypothesis (2009) by Alain Badiou, both of which seek to recover communism from associations with Russia and China. Others have examined Marx in light of race and gender, such as Black Marxism: The Making of the Black Radical Tradition (1983) by Cedric Robinson and Women, Race, and Class (1981) by Angela Davis.
