Career Choice

Together with her siblings, Bree went through a traumatic experience that they had to go to therapy to cope with. Ironically, Bree becomes a detective making violence and tragedy part of her everyday life.

Working with the K-9

Bree has a fear of dogs that comes from the night his father killed her mother and committed suicide. Now investigating her sister’s murder, she has to work alongside Brody, the police K-9 dog, to solve the case.

Irony of Reassurance

The narrative entails tense moments where the character reassures the other that the situation will be fine. For instance, Bree crosses her heart and promises her sister that everything will be okay but both their parents die that night.

Corrupt Department

The police department had a tarnished reputation before the arrival of detective Bree, therefore, becomes a huge hindrance to the case. Their investigation has to rely on Bree and Matt yet they are too close to the case and not currently part of the local authority or force.

The Obvious Suspect

Due to the murder-suicide incident in their childhood, the obvious suspect is Justin who has also disappeared. The assumption of the spouse always being the culprit is subverted with the discovery of the real killer.
