Sadie
Sadie is a time traveler who is researching her family's involvement with a local scandal. She and her mother have just moved back to her mother's homeland in Victoria. There, Sadie learns from the crows that her family has blood guilt in this land. She begins time traveling to the 1930's where she learns the truth about her great-grandfather's involvement with a local murder. After the murder, they flood the valley.
Clarry Hazzard
This is Sadie's great-grandfather. He is a highly symbolic character, but most of all he is her own ancestor. She is proud of him. In the still developing town of Victoria, Clarry is already a successful businessman who owns a general store on Main Street. In a town like this, that role is one of the most important in the community, because Clarry gets people what they need for their lives. However, his business acumen has some downsides too, and we learn that his integrity is not as strong as his business intuition.
Jimmy Raven
When business developers attempt to flood the valley, Jimmy Raven, an Aboriginal helper of Mortlock, steps in and stands against them. He says he won't let them do it. As a local native, he loves the earth and prizes the balance of nature, and he does not want to see them kill all the land animals and plants just for expedience. For this, and because of their insistent conflict, he is killed and his death is covered up—literally. Clarry buries his body and floods the valley.
