Eat Drink Man Woman” is a Taiwanese comedy movie that revolves around a family dealing with daily life and drama that comes with it. The title of the movie is a reference to one of Confucius teachings about the acceptance of the human natural urges.

The movie is about a father, Mr. Zhu and his three daughters Jia-Jen, Jia-Chien and Jia-Ning. Jia-Jen is religious and dealing with heartbreak, Jia-Chien wanted to be a chef like her father, but he discouraged her and the youngest, Jia-Ning, is dealing with life as a student. Mr. Zhu is a chef and the movie begins with him preparing food for his daughters, which reveals that his taste is slowly leaving him. The movie continues as a turmoil of decisions, misunderstandings and familial reconciliations.

It explores themes of tradition, gender differences, familial connections and love. The movie was released in 1994 and won many awards and nominations, including both the Academy Award and the Golden Globe.
