Orson Welles
Orson Welles is the Narrator of this film. He is the trusted voice that takes us on a journey of lies and truth in order to determine what is real and what is fake. Welles embodies the mystery and allusion this documentary talks about by himself becoming apart of the lie as he tells a fake story based on the facts of Irving and Elmyr's story.
Oja Kodar
Oja Kodar was Orson Welles' partner prior to his death. She wrote the girl being gawked at sequence as well as the Picasso sequence, which were pure fiction, for F for Fake. Thus, she played a role in the documentary where the lives of real people were explored.
Elmyr de Hory
Elmyr de Hory is an infamous Hungarian art forger. He is said to have created over 1,000 forgeries that were sold to galleries all over the world. He is the subject of this documentary, as he is at the center of Irving's accusations.
Clifford Irving
Clifford Irving is one of the main subjects of F for Fake as he is accusing Elmyr of being a forger. We come to find out that Irving, a novelist, has admitted to forging an autobiography of Howard Hughes. Thus, the accuser has become the accused and what's more provoking is that he admits to his crime, whereas Elmyr cannot have his forgeries pinned on him.
