    Objective:

    Students will understand the importance of narrative structure and scene selection.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.SL.5; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.CCRA.L.3

    Structure:

    Tell the students that they are going to put on a play of "The River," and need to come up with the set for the first scene. Have students draw diagrams of how they would set up their stages. When they are done, have them share their stage setups with each other.
