Helen Macdonald’s ‘H is for Hawk’ is a novel that begins with the protagonist Helen a falconer who is speaking about her adoration for birds. In particular, she curiously discusses the Goshawk one of the most savage birds. She has well known that Goshawks are hard to train because they are notorious. Yet Goshawks have provoked her attentiveness. After getting back from viewing the Goshawks in the woods, Helen is stunned to hear that her affectionate father has died. She helps herself to overcome the loss of his father by deciding to get a Goshawk and train it. Her own Goshawk is named as Mabel. However, Helen can tame notorious Mabel.
Helen and Mabel become agreeable with each other. But she has worried that their new relationship is shaky. She is reluctant about taking Mabel chasing, because she is afraid that on the off chance if she liberates Mabel to hunt, she does not have the foggiest idea whether Mabel will come back to her. But with the assistance of her companions Stuart and Christina, her first chase with Mabel is effective in that Mabel returns to her.
