    Themes and Symbols

    Kind of Activity:

    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will examine the different themes and symbolism that have appeared in the novel and will create a storyboard to visualize them.

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.2, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.L.9-10.5

    Structure:

    In this activity, the students will discuss themes and symbolism, examine the specific themes and symbols used in the novel, and create storyboards to help visually represent these ideas.

    Review with the class what themes and symbols are, coming up with a definition for each.
