Morrison has written eleven novels and countless other essays, nonfiction books, plays, and children’s books. Her works include: The Bluest Eye (1970); Song of Solomon (1977); Beloved (1987); Jazz (1992); Paradise (1997); and her most recent, God Help the Child (2015). Some of her nonfiction works include: Playing in the Dark: Whiteness and the Literary Imagination (1992); Remember: The Journey to School Integration (2004); and A Mouth Full of Blood: Essays, Speeches, Meditations (2019). Examples of her children's literature: The Book of Mean People (2002) and Please, Louise (2014). Her two plays are Dreaming Emmett (1986) and Desdemona (2011).
