Have students recall all that's happened to Weathers: after he's miraculously found alive, buried under a small pile of snow, he is again left for dead back in his tent, where his chances are survival are essentially put at zero. Even as he makes it through the night, he is all but ignored, and thankfully Krakauer is nearby and hears his calls for help.
