    Why did Dr. Bledsoe lie? Why didn't he want the narrator to know he was being permanently expelled?

    Students should look at Chapter 6 again to consider when Dr. Bledsoe changed his tune and why. Perhaps when he heard the narrator speak so eloquently, he realized that the narrator's anger could pose a genuine threat to Dr. Bledsoe's own position and therefore wanted to get him off campus before he learned the truth. He may have simply wanted to get rid of the narrator as efficiently as possible. He might have been so furious at the narrator that he wanted to actively sabotage him.
