Although she was perhaps best-known for her novels (the most famous of which are The Stone Carvers and The Underpainter), Canadian author Jane Urquhart has written countless short stories. Urquhart's best and most-famous works were collected in a book called Storm Glass, which was published in 1987 and received mostly positive reviews.
Among Urquhart's short stories include: 1) "Bardon Bus;" 2) "As Birds Bring Forth the Sun;" 3) "Italian Postcard," and 4) "Mischief." Most of her stories - including some of the aforementioned stories - heavily involve Canada in one way or another. And all of her stories have been widely read and reviewed in Canada (most reviewers point to Urquhart's prose as her strongpoint).
