Jazz is a novel of unnumbered chapters and unknown narrators. However, there are very clear breaks in the book, signifying chapters - these breaks are not the three dots which help to break up chapters further, but rather the new page where the first letter of the first word is in a larger font and in Bold. For the intents of lesson planning, the novel has been broken into ten separate chapters, which will be referred to as numerical chapters.
