Johnny 'Rooster' Byron
Johnny is a man who has lived in his mobile home in the forest for 20 years without paying any taxes nor rent. He was formerly a motorcycle stunt driver who's broken all of the bones in his body and even come back from the dead after an accident. He seems to be imbued with some sort of power that no one else understands. He is being evicted from his property so that new homes can be built, but he will not go quietly. He deals drugs to the people in the village and allows kids to party with him as he believes they are safer with him than with their parents.
Ginger
Ginger is an aspiring DJ who is older than the rest of the crew that hangs out with Johnny. He is hurt when he learns Johnny didn't invite him to his most recent party that everyone else went to. He sees that Johnny is being beaten by Troy and two other men, but doesn't do anything about it.
Lee
Lee is a teenager who hangs around with Johnny. He has purchased a one-way ticket to Australia in order to find himself and go on a vision quest, but has very little money and is scared to leave.
Davey
Davey is a teenager who is best friends with Lee. He comes to Johnny's to party regularly, and had videotaped to guys pissing on Rooster rather than stopping them from doing it.
The Professor
The Professer enters the play looking for Mary. He seems to have a sense of being in the real world and in fantasy at the same time. He takes LSD with the group and when he returns from his 'trip' he speaks with Johnny and says that he knows Mary will not be coming back, that she is gone.
Phaedra
Phaedra is a fifteen year old girl who has gone missing. She was last years Queen of the fair. She appears in the prologues to scenes throughout the play, but it isn't revealed that she has been staying with Johnny in his caravan the entire time until the very end of the play.
Marky
Marky is Johnny's son. He's six years old and arrives to go to the fair with his father, who has forgotten about taking him and is drunk and high. Marky returns at the end of the play and his father tells him about their rare blood type and gives him advice about life, knowing that he will never see his son again.
Dawn
Dawn is Johnny's ex-girlfriend, and Marky's mother. She is upset that Johnny has let Marky down again by being to drunk and high to take him to the fair. She does a line of cocaine at Johnny's while Marky is inside, and even kisses Johnny, but leaves with their son.
Troy
Troy is Phaedra's stepfather who comes looking for her at Johnny's caravan. He believes Johnny has her, and Rooster implies clearly that he knows Troy is abusing Phaedra. He reappears at the end of the play with two men, a blow torch and a brand to beat Rooster and brand an 'x' on each cheek of his face.
