Discuss the various kitchens that Mikage encounters. Why are they important to Mikage? What do they symbolize for her?

There are three "main" kitchens which Mikage describes. Her grandmother's kitchen is representative of Mikage's past life, and it is a connection to the last of her familial line. After her grandmother passes away, Mikage finds that the only place she can manage to fall asleep is in the kitchen next to the refrigerator. The next kitchen described is the Tanabes', which symbolizes the next stage in Mikage's life.
