    "The Story of An Hour" Comparison

    Kind of Activity:

    Group Work

    Objective:

    Students will compare "Flexion" to its thematic ancestor, "The Story of an Hour"

    Common Core Standards:

    CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.1, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.9

    Structure:

    Have students read Kate Chopin's "The Story of an Hour". The students may access the story on individual devices, or the teacher may either hand out copies or project the story.

    After reading, give the students five minutes to summarize the story in their own words.
