Lucy William Wordsworth (1770-1850)

William Wordsworth helped launch the Romantic movement in literature. His Lyrical Ballads, written with Samuel T. Coleridge, initiated the movement The poems in this collection were short and lyrical, describing everyday scenes in everyday vernacular, compared with long epics written in elevated language (such as Milton's Paradise Lost). One of Wordsworth's most marked contributions to the genre was a return to a view of nature that emphasized its relationship with humans.
